Florida Mass Band Divisions

The Youth Division is designed for middle school and high school students who are eager to grow musically, gain performance experience, and be part of a large-scale ensemble. 

Program Overview:

• Open to middle and high school student musicians
• Focus on skill development, performance readiness, and teamwork
• Participation in showcases, community events, and collaborative performances

Requirements:

• Parent/Guardian Consent Form (Required)
• Media/Video Release Form (Required)
• Attendance at a basic audition/assessment

Audition Details:

Auditions for the Youth Division are non-competitive and are used strictly for:

• Determining part placement
• Evaluating current skill level
• Ensuring proper section balance within the ensemble

 The Collegiate & Adult Division brings together college students and experienced adult musicians from across the state to perform at a high level in a collaborative environment. 

Program Overview:

• Open to currently enrolled college students and qualified adult musicians
• Advanced performance opportunities at major events and showcases
• Emphasis on musical excellence, versatility, and professionalism

Audition Process:

• Video audition submission
• Director verification/recommendation (for collegiate participants)
• Final selection based on performance quality and ensemble instrumentation needs

This division is more selective to ensure a balanced, high-level performance ensemble.
